It should be easier to avoid accidents when you know they are possible. Here is one that I had never even dreamed possible. Please learn from my mistake.
I was cutting tenons on the band saw this afternoon. I had a stop block attached to the fence, and the cut-off pieces were falling into the angle between them. I was making the cut, watching the work, the blade and the cut-off while I reached with my left hand to turn off the saw so I could safely remove the cut -off. The tip of my left middle finger went into the left side blade guard and the blade cut into the finger tip. No pieces are missing, and I think the band-aids will hold things together without stitches.
I recommend avoiding this.
